We have finally come to the end of what ESPN billed as the "Greatest Opening Weekend Ever". Honestly, while that could be true, compared to other opening weekends, I felt like much of Saturday was a bit of a let down. During the primetime window, when Clemson/Auburn and USC/Alabama were both on, Tony and I were actually feeling a bit bored. Now, Sunday was a different story with the Notre Dame/Texas game being the best game of the weekend.
And we actually got some conference games.
ACC
Atlantic
Boston College has a cross-divisional loss to Georgia Tech. Otherwise, everyone is still alive for the divisional race.
Coastal
Georgia Tech leads the division with a cross-divisional win over Boston College. Everyone else is 0-0 in conference. UVA does have the distinct embarrassment of being dominated by an FCS team.
Overall, the ACC went 11-3 in week 1. One of those losses was guaranteed due to a conference game. The other losses came from the SEC and CAA.
SEC
East
South Carolina (1-0) leads the conference with a win over Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt (0-1) needs two SC losses.
West
No conference games, although the West took a hit, only going 3-4 in week 1.
Everyone in the Big 12, B1G, and Pac-12 is still 0-0 in conference play.
