And, we're back. As usual, we have another season with a lot of bowl-like matchups headlining week one mixed in with the usual tune up games, followed by 2-3 weeks of cupcakes. At least we have 5 days of college football this week.
Thursday
6 PM
North Carolina at South Carolina, ESPN. One of many 6 PM kickoffs, but since this one is on ESPN, it gets the official title of first game of the season. It's also the first of three ACC-SEC matchups.
Friday
Several games listed, but none that hold a lot of national interest.
Saturday
3:30 PM
Temple at Notre Dame, NBC. The almost national champs begin a new season, but without several of last year's stars.
Penn State vs Syracuse, ABC/ESPN2. A team with three more years of post-season bans against a team that just changed conferences. Hopefully, it'll be a decent matchup.
5:30 PM
Alabama vs. Virginia Tech, ESPN. The Chick-fil-a Kickoff Game. I'm hoping it's closer to the 2009 matchup and not like the VT/LSU contest of 2007.
8 PM
Georgia at Clemson, ABC. This should be a matchup of teams near the top of their respective conferences. Actually, this could be the best game of the weekend, which explains why it gets the Saturday Night timeslot.
9 PM
LSU vs. TCU, ESPN. Live from Jerryworld!
10 PM
Boise State at Washington, FS1. This could hold enough interest as a night cap once the big games are done over on the mouse channels.
Sunday
Two games listed, but not a lot of significance.
Monday
8 PM
Florida State at Pitt, ESPN. The annual ACC Labor Day matchup features Pitt hosting it's first ACC game.
