Week 11 update

Things are starting to get a little messy in some of the conference races.  But yet, we actually have a division champion already.

ACC
Atlantic Champion:  Clemson Tigers (7-0)
Clemson clinched with the best record in the division.

Out of contention:
-Wake Forest (3-2) was eliminated when Clemson beat NC State.
-Louisville (3-3) was eliminated by losing to Miami.
-BC (3-4) was eliminated by losing to Clemson.
-FSU (4-4) was eliminated when Clemson beat BC.
-NC State (1-4) was eliminated by losing to Wake Forest.
-Syracuse (0-5) was eliminated by losing to FSU.

Coastal
Controls destiny:

-UVA (5-2) has tiebreakers over UNC, Pitt, and Duke.  They lost to Miami.
-VT (3-2) has tiebreakers over Miami and UNC.  They lost to Duke.

Odds are good that the Commonwealth Cup matchup on Black Friday will be a Coastal Division championship game.  If VT wins out prior to that game, then the winner will have the single best record in the division.

Needs help:
-Pitt (3-2) needs a UVA loss.  They have tiebreakers over Duke and GT.  They lost to Miami.  They will be eliminated with a loss to UNC.
-Miami (4-3) needs losses by UNC, VT (2), UVA, and Pitt.  They have tiebreakers over UVA and Pitt.  They will be eliminated with a VT win.

Out of contention:
-UNC (3-3) does not have enough tiebreakers.
-Duke (2-3) does not have enough tiebreakers.
-GT (1-5) was eliminated by losing to UVA.

Normally, I like to list the exact game that eliminated a team, but it's a little difficult for UNC and Duke as they got eliminated while on a bye or playing out of conference.  It was some combination of UVA over GT, VT over Wake, and Miami over Louisville that did it.  In short, UNC and Duke both come up on the bottom of any ties involving any combination of VT, UVA, Pitt, Miami, UNC, and Duke.

Bowl eligible:  Clemson, WF, UVA, Pitt, Miami, Notre Dame
One win away:  Louisville, BC, FSU, VT
One loss away from no bowl:  Syracuse
No bowl:  GT

SEC
East
Controls destiny:

-Georgia (5-1) has tiebreakers over all SEC East teams except South Carolina.  They have two cross-divisional games left.  They clinch the division with their next win OR a Florida loss.

Needs help:
-Florida (5-2) can only clinch with a win AND Georgia losing out.

Out of contention:
-Missouri (2-3) was eliminated by losing to Georgia.
-Tennessee (3-3) was eliminated when Georgia beat Missouri.
-South Carolina (3-4) was eliminated when Georgia beat Missouri.
-Kentucky (2-5) was eliminated by Florida beating Vanderbilt.
-Vanderbilt (1-5) was eliminated by losing to Florida.

The best case scenario for Missouri and Tennessee would be a tie with Georgia at 5-3.  Since Georgia owns all of the tiebreakers, it doesn't matter who's involved in those ties, Georgia would sweep.

Missouri is appealing a postseason ban from the NCAA, so as of now they are not eligible to win the division.  I will keep track of them as normal until a decision is finalized.

West
Magic number: 4

Controls destiny:
-LSU (5-0) has tiebreakers over Auburn and Alabama.

Needs help:
-Alabama (5-1) needs two LSU losses.  They have tiebreakers over Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
-Auburn (4-2) needs 3 LSU losses.  They have a tiebreaker over Texas A&M.  They will be eliminated with a loss AND LSU win.
-Texas A&M (3-2) needs an Auburn loss, 2 Alabama losses, and an extra LSU loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Ole Miss.  They will be eliminated with a loss AND LSU win.

Out of contention:
-Ole Miss (2-4) was eliminated by losing to Auburn.
-Mississippi State (2-4) was eliminated by losing to Texas A&M.
-Arkansas (0-6) was eliminated by losing to Alabama.

Bowl eligible:  Florida, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Texas A&M
One game away:  Missouri (pending appeal), Tennessee
One loss away:  Ole Miss, USCe
No bowl:  Arkansas, Vanderbilt

Big Ten

Needs help:
-Wisconsin (4-2) needs an extra Minnesota loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Northwestern and Iowa.
-Iowa (3-3) needs 2 Wisconsin losses and an extra Minnesota loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Purdue.

Out of control:
-Illinois (4-3) will need to force a tie with Minnesota and Wisconsin at 6-3, where they can win based on division record.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR Minnesota win.

Out of contention:
-Purdue (3-4) was eliminated by Minnesota beating Penn State.
-Nebraska (2-4) was eliminated by Minnesota beating Penn State.
-Northwestern (0-7) was eliminated by losing to Iowa.

Bowl eligible:  Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois

Pac-12
North
Controls destiny:
-Oregon (6-0) has tiebreakers over Washington State, Washington, Stanford, and Cal.  They will clinch with a win OR Oregon State loss.

Needs help:
-Oregon State (3-3) needs to win out and have Oregon lose out.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR Oregon win.

Out of contention:
-Stanford (3-4) was eliminated when they lost to Colorado.
-Washington (3-4) was eliminated when Oregon beat USC.
-Cal (2-4) was eliminated when Oregon beat USC.
-Washington State (1-5) was eliminated when Oregon beat USC.

South
Magic number:  3

For USC or Utah to stay at 5 wins, that would mean that UCLA would beat both of them and get to 6 wins.  If UCLA loses either of those games, USC and/or Utah would get a sixth win.  Ultimately, at least one of those three teams is getting a sixth win, which would eliminate any team with more than 3 losses.

Controls destiny:
-Utah (5-1) lost to USC.
-UCLA (4-2) has a tiebreaker over Arizona State.

Needs help:
-USC (5-2) has a tiebreaker over Utah, but needs them to lose a game to make it useful.

Out of contention:
-Arizona State (2-4) was eliminated by losing to USC.
-Arizona (2-4) was eliminated by USC beating Arizona State.
-Colorado (2-5) was eliminated by losing to UCLA.

Bowl eligible: Oregon, Utah, Washington, USC
One game away:  Arizona State, Cal
One loss away:  Colorado

Big 12
-Baylor (6-0) has tiebreakers over TCU, WVU, OK State, Texas Tech, K-State, and Iowa State.
-Oklahoma (5-1) has tiebreakers over Iowa State, WVU, Texas, Kansas, and Texas Tech.  They lost to K-State.
-Texas (4-2) has tiebreakers over K-State, Kansas, OK State, and WVU.  They lost to Oklahoma and TCU.
-Iowa State (3-3) has tiebreakers over Texas Tech, TCU, and WVU.  They lost to Baylor, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
-Kansas State (3-3) has tiebreakers over Kansas, Oklahoma, and TCU.  They lost to Texas, Baylor, and OK State.
-Oklahoma State (3-3) has tiebreakers over TCU, Iowa State, and K-State.  They lost to Baylor, Texas, and Texas Tech.
-TCU (2-4) has tiebreakers over Texas and Kansas.  They lost to Baylor, OK State, Iowa State, and K-State.
-Texas Tech (2-4) has a tiebreaker over WVU and OK State.  They lost to Iowa State, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Baylor.

Out of contention:
-WVU (1-5) was eliminated by losing to Texas Tech.
-Kansas (1-5) was eliminated when Oklahoma beat Iowa State.

Baylor and Oklahoma still control their destiny to the Big 12 championship game, and play each other next week.  Regardless of the outcome, they will still control their destiny.

If Oklahoma wins, both teams would be 6-1, with everyone else having 2 or more losses.

If Baylor wins, they would be 7-0 and Oklahoma would be 5-2. Oklahoma has the tiebreaker over Texas which would keep them in the #2 spot.

TCU and Texas Tech can only achieve the #2 seed in the conference.

Bowl eligible: Baylor, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas
One game away:  Iowa State
One loss away:  Kansas, WVU
