2021 Week 4 wrap-up

This season continues to prove that no one knows anything.  Looks like almost everything is fair game this year.

Reminder that the conference races only count conference games.

ACC Wheel of Destiny

We still have 5 teams that haven't even started conference play, but the wheel is already in full force.  And VT still needs to fire Brad Cornelson.

Atlantic
Controls destiny:
-Wake Forest (2-0) has a tiebreaker over FSU.
-NC State (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Clemson.
-Louisville (1-0) has a tiebreaker over FSU.

Not yet playing:
-BC, Syracuse

Needs help:
-Clemson (1-1) needs two NC State losses.
-FSU (0-2) needs losses by WF (3), Louisville (3), and additional losses by NC State, BC, and Syracuse.

Coastal
Controls destiny:
-VT (1-0) has a tiebreaker over UNC.
-GT (1-1) has a tiebreaker over UNC.

Not yet playing:
-Duke, Pitt, and Miami

Needs help:
-UNC (1-2) needs losses by VT (3) and GT (2), plus additional losses by Duke, Pitt, and Miami.  They have a tiebreaker over uva.
-uva (0-2) needs a UNC loss, plus additional losses by VT, Duke, Pitt, and Miami.

SEC

East
Controls destiny:
-Georgia (2-0) has tiebreakers over SC and Vandy.
-Kentucky (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Mizzou.
-Florida (1-1) has a tiebreaker over Tennessee.

Needs help:
-SC (0-1) needs two UGA losses.
-Mizzou (0-1) needs two Kentucky losses.
-Vandy (0-1) needs two UGA losses.
-Tennessee (0-1) needs two Florida losses.

West
Controls destiny:
-Alabama (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Arkansas (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Texas A&M.
-LSU (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Mississippi State.

Needs help:
-Texas A&M (0-1) needs two Arkansas losses.

Big Ten (B1G)
East

-Maryland (1-0), Michigan State (2-0), PSU (1-0), Ohio State (1-0) all have cross-divisional wins.
-Indiana (0-1) has a cross-divisional loss.

Needs help:
-Rutgers (0-1) needs two Michigan losses.

West
Controls destiny:
-Purdue (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Illinois.
-Iowa (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Minnesota (0-1), Wisconsin (0-1), and Northwestern (0-1) have cross-divisional losses.

Needs help:
-Illinois (1-2) needs two losses by Purdue, plus and additional loss by Iowa.  They have a tiebreaker over Nebraska.
-Nebraska (0-2) needs an Illinois loss, plus additional losses by Purdue and Iowa.

Pac-12
North
Controls destiny:
-Washington (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Cal.
-Oregon (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Oregon State (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Stanford (1-1) has only played cross-divisional games.
-Washington State (0-2) has cross-divisional losses.

Needs help:
-Cal (0-1) needs two Washington losses.

South
Controls destiny:
-Arizona State (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Colorado
-UCLA (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Utah (1-0) has a cross-divisional win.
-Arizona (0-1) has a cross-divisional loss.

Needs help:
-Colorado (0-1) needs two Az State losses.
-USC (1-2) needs additional losses by Az State, UCLA, and Utah.  They have only played cross-divisional games.

Big 12
Controls destiny:
-Baylor (2-0) has tiebreakers over Kansas and Iowa State.
-Oklahoma (1-0) has a tiebreaker over WVU.
-Oklahoma State (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Kansas State.
-Texas (1-0) has a tiebreaker over Texas Tech.
-Iowa State (0-1) lost to Baylor.
-Texas Tech (0-1) lost to Texas.
-Kansas (0-1) lost to Baylor.
-WVU (0-1) lost to Oklahoma.
-Kansas State (0-1) lost to Oklahoma State.

  1. I hope your comment about Cornelson stays up there until he's gone. He needs to go!!!

    Also, it's been a while since Clemson needed anything to happen just to control its own Divisional destiny.
    - The last time was 2017 after the Syracuse loss, which lasted for a mere week until Syracuse lost to Miami to absorb a 2nd conference loss).
    - The last time Clemson needed MORE than 1 loss to happen to regain control was 2014 after the Florida State game. That never materialized; and in fact, it was Clemson who lost one more conference game after that.
