Games to Watch: Week 4

Another week, another list of games.  As we near the end of September, this list gets more interesting.  I'm not sure if that's because we have better matchups, or because we actually have some storylines.  Unlike last week, we're back to being primetime heavy.

Thursday
9 PM
BYU at Boise State, ESPN.  Thursday Night Football finally gets away from the Big East . . . by showcasing a team that will be in the Big East next year.  This game would have had a lot more impact if Boise won in week one, and it's really Boise's last "big" game of the year.  But it's not enough to prove they can hang with the big boys in the BCS bowls this year.

Friday
8 PM
Baylor at Louisiana-Monroe, ESPN.  ULM has been making a bit of noise, with two overtime games against the SEC, and going 1-1 in those games.  I'm not sure if a win here would do anything for their BCS Buster chances, but if this season starts getting too crazy later on, ULM could find its way into the discussion.

Saturday
Noon
Maryland at West Virginia, FX.  It could be a chance for the ACC to get a quality nonconference win, but WVU is probably too much for a Maryland team that barely beat FCS opponent William and Mary in week one.

Virginia vs. TCU, ESPN.  Another ACC/Big 12 matchup.  Hopefully, UVA has come to their senses about use of the color orange.

Bowling Green at Virginia Tech, ESPNU.  Two U games in a row for VT, who will be sporting special camo uniforms for Military Appreciation Day.

3 PM
Miami at Georgia Tech, RSN.  This could be a key game for the ACC Coastal, as the losing team will suffer a sizable setback.  This is the late ACC Network game produced by Fox Sports Net and usually airs on Comcast SportsNet stations on the east coast.

7 PM
LSU at Auburn, ESPN.  In theory, the first real test for LSU, even though Auburn hasn't been impressive at all this season.

7:30 PM
Michigan at Notre Dame, NBC.  A night home game for Notre Dame?  I thought they only did those when it was a neutral site.  But Notre Dame's got it's sights on the top ten, and Michigan is in the way.

7:50 PM
Kansas State at Oklahoma, FOX.  Finally, a non Pac-12 game on Fox Primetime.  This looks to be a key game in determining the Big 12, and possibly shake up the top 10.

8 PM
Clemson at Florida State, ABC.  This is the game for the ACC Atlantic.  The winner of this game is projected to play on December 1 in Charlotte.  This is also one of three games highlighted in the preseason as being among the most important in the ACC.  The other two games include both of these teams against Virginia Tech.

10:30 PM
Arizona at Oregon, ESPN.  The nightcap sees Oregon start conference play.  We were all impressed with their outing in week 1.  How will they fare in week 1 of the Pac-12?
