Week 8 wrap up

They said on Gameday that the weeks that look the weakest on paper, and when Gameday goes to FCS schools, are the weeks that things tend to break open.

We already have multiple teams officially out of contention in the conference races.

As usual, I'm only referring to conference records in this post.  If the number of games does not match the list of teams, then the extra number is a cross divisional game.

We're bringing back the magic number.  That is determined by taking the team with the most wins in a division and adding the number of remaining games to their loss column, and then adding one.  Any team that has the magic number or higher in the loss column is automatically out.

2 comments:

  1. Just two quick comments:
    1. UNC still has to win one more to go bowling (which I think they will do just fine). They're 6-1, but they beat two FCS teams.
    2. Washington State is actually in control of their destiny. They may have lost to Cal, but Cal has a second conference loss (2, to Wazzu's 1). I'm sure that Stanford will have something to say about that though...

    1. I've updated accordingly. There's always something that gets away from me mid-season when I'm trying to catch up on a Sunday morning.
