Week 9 wrap up

I admit, I didn't watch much this weekend.  With a VT bye week and the last weekend before Halloween, I gotta focus on family stuff.  But man, did the ACC not disappoint.

We have reached the point of the season when the magic number is back.

ACC
Atlantic
Magic number: 3

Controls destiny:
-Clemson (6-0) has tiebreakers over Louisville, Syracuse, and FSU.
-Wake Forest (2-1) has tiebreakers over BC and FSU.  They lost to Louisville.

Out of control:
-Louisville (3-2) has a slim chance if they get into a three way tie with Clemson and Wake Forest.  (In this scenario, NC State would be eliminated by losing to Louisville.)  I'm not sure who would win, as all three teams would be 1-1 against each other, and Louisville and Clemson would be 4-2 in division.  Wake Forest would be either 5-1 or 4-2 in the division.  In the case of 5-1, they would win, but a 4-2 division record would drop down to the next tiebreaker.  It's too early in the season for me to try to figure that one out.  Either way, Louisville faces elimination with a loss OR Clemson win.
-NC State (1-2) can clinch the division if they win out and Clemson loses out.  In this scenario, they would have tiebreakers over Clemson and Wake Forest, as well as drop Louisville out of contention.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR Clemson win.

Out of contention:

-BC (2-3) was eliminated by losing to Clemson.
-FSU (3-3) was eliminated when Clemson beat BC.
-Syracuse (0-4) was eliminated by losing to FSU.

Coastal

-UNC (3-2) needs a VT loss.  They have tiebreakers over Duke, Miami, and GT.
-Pitt (2-2) needs a UVA loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Duke.  They lost to Miami.
-Duke (2-3) needs 2 Pitt losses, 2 UVA losses, 2 UNC losses, and a VT loss.  They have a tiebreaker over VT.
-GT (1-3) needs a Duke loss and 2 UNC losses.  They have a tiebreaker over Miami.
-Miami (2-3) needs 2 UNC losses, 2 VT losses, a UVA loss, a Pitt loss, and a GT loss.  They have tiebreakers over UVA and Pitt.

SEC

Magic number:  5

Controls destiny:
-Florida (4-1) has tiebreakers over Kentucky, Tennessee, and USCe.
-Georgia (3-1) has tiebreakers over Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee. They lost to USCe.

Needs help:
-Missouri (2-2) has a tiebreaker over USCe.  They lost to Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
-Tennessee (2-3) needs 3 Florida losses, 3 Georgia losses, and an extra Missouri loss.  They will be eliminated with a loss AND a Florida win.
-Vanderbilt (1-3) needs 3 Georgia losses, 2 Missouri losses, and 2 extra Florida losses.  They will be eliminated with a loss AND a Florida win.

Out of control:

-South Carolina would need a multi-team tie with Florida and other teams at 4-4 to have any chance.  They have tiebreakers over Georgia and Kentucky.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR Florida win.
-Kentucky (2-4) would need a multi-team tie with Florida and other teams at 4-4 to have any chance.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR Florida win.

Missouri is appealing a postseason ban from the NCAA, so as of now they are not eligible to win the division.  I will keep track of them as normal until a decision is finalized.

West
Magic number: 4

-Alabama (5-0) has tiebreakers over Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

-Texas A&M (3-2) needs an Auburn loss, 3 Alabama losses, and an extra LSU loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Ole Miss.

Out of control:
-Ole Miss (2-3) would have to force a tie with Alabama and other teams for any chance.  They will be eliminated with a loss OR an Alabama win.

-Mississippi State (1-4) was eliminated by losing to Texas A&M.
-Arkansas (0-5) was eliminated by losing to Alabama.

Bowl eligible:  Florida, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn
