Week 8 wrap up

I'm still debating which version of the weekly wrap up I prefer.  Individual posts, or one massive one for everyone?  The problem with the massive post is that usually one conference is done with play early enough on Saturday to be done before I go to bed, but the Pac-12 is still playing into the wee hours of Sunday.

B1G
East
Controls destiny:
-Ohio State (2-0) has tiebreakers over Maryland and Rutgers.
-Michigan State (3-0) has a tiebreaker over Indiana.

Needs help:
-Maryland (2-1) needs two Ohio State losses, but has a tiebreaker over Indiana.
-Michigan (1-2) needs extra losses from Ohio State and Michigan State.  They have a tiebreaker against Penn State, but lost to Rutgers.
-Penn State (1-2) has a loss to Michigan, and a tiebreaker over Rutgers.
-Rutgers (1-2) has a tiebreaker over Michigan.  They lost to Penn State and Ohio State.

Just start winning:
-Indiana (0-3) lost to Maryland and Michigan State.

Just to explain Michigan's situation at the moment, since they have the most intriguing, if unlikely path:  If they win out, they would be 6-2 in conference.  They would have head-to-head over everyone except Rutgers.  They need Ohio State and Michigan State to each lose another game to get down to 2 losses.  At that point, Michigan would probably win most tiebreakers.

Again, though, that's highly unlikely at this point, but college football is known for the improbable sometimes.

West
Controls destiny:
-Minnesota (3-0) has tiebreakers over Northwestern and Purdue.
-Iowa (2-1) has a tiebreaker over Purdue.
-Nebraska (2-1) has tiebreakers over Illinois and Northwestern.
-Wisconsin (1-1) regained control when Northwestern lost.  They have a tiebreaker over Illinois.

Needs help:
-Northwestern (2-2) needs 3 Minnesota losses and 2 Nebraska losses.  They have a tiebreaker over Wisconsin.
-Purdue (1-2) needs 3 Minnesota losses and 2 Iowa losses, but has a tiebreaker over Illinois.

Just start winning:
-Illinois (0-3) lost to Nebraska, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

Bowl eligible: Michigan State, Nebraska, Minnesota
One win away: Ohio State, Rutgers, Maryland, Iowa
Two wins away: Penn State, Wisconsin

Pac-12
North
Controls destiny:
-Oregon (3-1) has a tiebreaker against Washington State and Washington.
-Stanford (2-2) has tiebreaker over Washington and Washington State.
-Oregon State (1-2) has only played cross divisional games.

Needs help:
-Washington (1-2) needs 2 Oregon losses and a Stanford loss. They have a tiebreaker over Cal.
-California (2-3) needs a Washington loss but has a tiebreaker against Washington State.

Just start winning:
-Washington State (1-3) lost to Oregon, Cal, and Stanford.  Their lone win is cross divisional.

South
Controls destiny:
-Utah (2-1) has a tiebreaker over UCLA.
-Arizona State (3-1) has a tiebreaker over Colorado and USC.  They lost to UCLA.

Needs help:
-USC (4-1) needs an Arizona State loss.  They have a tiebreaker over Colorado.
-Arizona (2-1) needs a USC loss.
-UCLA (2-2) needs 2 Utah losses.  They have a tiebreaker over Arizona State.

Just start winning:
-Colorado (0-4) lost to Arizona State and USC.  A loss plus a USC win will eliminate Colorado.

Two wins away:  California, Oregon State, Stanford
Two losses away from no bowl:  Washington State, Colorado
